Battlefield Leadership: Rebuilding Your Team After a Year of COVID
Special Program: Case Study in the application of Leadership through History, with a taste of Whiskey!
Join us for this special interactive team building and leadership training session at the Gettysburg Battlefield Park in Gettysburg, PA. It's only 90 minutes from the Washington, D.C. area!
Tom Coyle, military veteran and founder of Adventures in Leadership who has served overseas, and James Rosebush, advisor to Ronald Reagan and CEO of GrowthStrategy, inc, will facilitate key lessons learned from the Battle of Gettysburg that are applicable to leaders at all levels. We will also tie in modern examples of these lessons from Jim's experience in the White House and Tom's experience serving overseas.
Afterwards, we will convene at an old Civil War field hospital that now serves as a whiskey distillery and brew pub for spirits and barbecue! Enjoy on-site produced whiskey, rum, gin, vodka, beer, and other drinks as we wrap up our day and discuss the various lessons and bond together.
Battlefield to Boardroom
Overview of the Battlefield to Boardroom program: COVID-19 has impacted all of us. We have become isolated. We have lost a sense of collaboration. While technology has allowed us to work remotely, we miss those opportunities to break bread with our team members and really build cohesive organizations. That's where we come in. Our Battlefield to Boardroom program not only allows you to study great leaders, but it gives you the opportunity to bring your team together. Not only will you grow your relationships, but you will learn some important lessons to help your executives take their performance to the next level. History, particularly Battlefield History, provides a wealth of leadership lessons from which we can all learn. Consider the following: The Battle of Gettysburg features critical lessons such as:
-- How to develop people to take the initiative-- Dealing with an employee who made a major mistake
-- Lessons of bad communication (and how to improve)
-- How to raise objections to a boss when you believe he or she is pushing a bad idea
These lessons can be tailored to the goals of your company or organization. Prior to giving the presentation, Tom discuses the key leadership goals with the company and then customizes the presentation to company needs. The discussions are interactive – few people learn simply by listening to a lecture; but through active participation, we can all grow together. During the discussion, as Tom goes over the historical situation, he will then ask participants what they would do in the situation. This is also a time for participants to share their own stories where they faced similar dilemmas and what they did. Then we discuss the historical outcome and the relevant lessons.
By exposing people to these historical leadership lessons, we learn from their mistakes and successes, allowing us to avoid the negative and replicate the positive.
